PUGET SOUND MOSQUITO FLEET

Carlisle II

Built on Lummi Island in 1917, the Carlisle II was purchased by Horluck Transportation in Port Orchard in 1936 and has been in Kitsap ever since. Kitsap Transit purchased the vessel in 2003. After an extensive refurbishment in 2004, she was returned to her previous route between Bremerton and Port Orchard. She is likely the oldest continuously licensed wooden vessel in the United States still running, and features an onboard floating museum of her history and the history of Puget Sound’s Mosquito Fleet.
